Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi (born 22 September 1952 in Highfield, Harare) is a Zimbabwean musician, businessman, philanthropist, human rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region. Tuku is considered Zimbabwe's most renowned and internationally recognised cultural icon of all time. Mtukudzi began performing in 1977 when he joined the Wagon Wheels, a band that also featured Thomas Mapfumo. Their single Dzandimomotera went gold and Tuku's first album followed, which was also a major success. Mtukudzi is also a contributor to Mahube, Southern Africa's "supergroup".
Dalisoul mwana wamu komboni will be performing at LICAF 2016, he is the man behind the song 'Chikanda mbwelenge' on which he featured fellow artist popularly known for his song 'Toliwe', Willz. You are surely going to enjoy music from Dalisoul and his Jeraboh dancers not only because of the fire and intensity of his sound but also because of the fresh dance moves behind his performances. Other songs done by Dalisoul include Ndichiritseni Ft. Indy-K, Chipyango ft JK and Musunge Mushe ft Shyman Shaizo.
Kashu Chibale aka KC Flexer from Livingstone, Zambia was born on the 22nd May and is the 5th in a family of 5. He started singing in his early childhood but didn't start recording until 2004. His first major album was set to be released around October 2012. He is best known for his song "Segulani Chabe". Other songs by him include Chi Babasho feat. The famous Amayenge Cultural Ensemble will also be at LICAF 2016. The word "Amayenge" is a Lenje name for a coming out dance for female initiation rites which suggest dance and celebration. Kris Chali was one of the founders of the band and played a very leading role in transforming this band with humble beginnings to be the most successful band in the Zambian Music history. He died on 30th May 2003. Amayenge is now managed by Frazer Chilembo. Mr. says they draw their inspiration from The Lion of Rhumba Music, "Koffi Olomide". www.amayenge.com
The Green Labels Band are a live music band of the Zambia National Service (ZNS). One of the albums they have done include Sanabwele which was launched in 2014. The Green Labels band produces Adult contemporary music which has gained them both young and old followers. The main aim of the ZNS band (Green Labels) is to entertain and educate.
There will be five Southern Province based local artists performing, these artists will all be doing live performances and will have professional bands backing them up. You will be astonished by the unique sound of these artists.
